Appendicitis often starts as vague discomfort before becoming unmistakable. Here is what to watch for.
Appendicitis is sudden inflammation of the appendix, a small pouch attached to the large intestine. It is one of the most common reasons for emergency abdominal surgery worldwide.
एपेन्डिक्समा अचानक सुन्निने समस्यालाई एपेन्डिसाइटिस भनिन्छ।
How the Pain Typically Progresses
- Dull pain starting near the navel
- Pain that shifts and sharpens in the lower right abdomen over 12–24 hours
- Loss of appetite, nausea, or low-grade fever
- Pain that worsens with movement, coughing, or pressing on the area
Treatment
Laparoscopic appendectomy — keyhole removal of the appendix — is the standard treatment. Same-day or next-day discharge is common for uncomplicated cases, with a faster return to normal activity than open surgery.
